Learn more about Tyler Morris a Premier Palm Beach Shores Fishing in Island Time Sport Fishing

Tyler Morris - Island Time Sport Fishing

The winter bite is reaching its peak at Sailfish Marina. A series of cold fronts has moved through South Florida, bringing air temperatures into the 50s and 60s. These conditions have ignited the offshore fishery, particularly for those looking to engage with our premier winter species.

Offshore: The Sailfish Migration is Here
The recent North-Northwest winds have provided the ideal setup for sailfishing. We are seeing high activity along the ledge between 120 and 200 feet of water, often just 20 minutes from the Palm Beach Inlet.

Current Tactics: Kite fishing with live goggle eyes has been our most productive method.

The Bite: We have been seeing consistent releases, with some days offering multiple double-headers as schools of sails move south through the Gulf Stream.

Meat In The Box: Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna
The "meat" fishing remains strong, especially on the troll. The recent moon phases have brought a steady Wahoo bite for those pulling planers with bonita strips.

Blackfin Tuna: Productive action continues further out at "The Hill." While many are catching schoolie-sized fish on the troll, our live bait setups are targeting the larger "jumbos" that are hanging in the 200 to 300-foot range.

Mahi-Mahi: We are encountering nice "gaffer" sized Mahi-Mahi while searching for billfish, particularly when finding clean water edges and weed lines pushed in by the recent fronts.

Reef and Bottom Fishing
When the wind allows, the bottom fishing has been excellent.

Snapper: We are finding a healthy mix of Yellowtail and Mutton Snapper on the local reefs.

Giants: For those seeking a heavy-duty battle, the Goliath Grouper are active around the deeper wrecks. We are also seeing a strong presence of Hammerhead and Bull Sharks for guests interested in big-game tug-of-wars.

For Captain Tyler Morris, a life spent on the water was never just a career choice—it was a natural progression. Growing up in Islamorada, the "Sportfishing Capital of the World," Tyler was raised in the heart of the Florida Keys' fishing culture. His father ran a charter boat out of the legendary Bud N’ Mary’s Marina, and Tyler was on the deck as a mate from a very early age. This unique upbringing allowed him to apprentice under some of the most respected guides in the industry, absorbing a diverse range of techniques that can only be learned through thousands of hours on the ocean. Today, with over 25 years of professional experience, he brings that deep-rooted Florida Keys heritage to every session he leads in West Palm Beach. While the technical side of the sport is important, Tyler believes the true value of being a guide lies in the personal connections made on the boat. His most memorable experience involves a young guest with a rare bone disease who caught his first fish aboard Tyler's vessel. That single moment turned into a five-year tradition of fishing together before the young man passed away. It is this focus on creating meaningful, lasting memories that drives Tyler’s approach. Whether he is teaching a novice how to hold a rod for the first time or helping a seasoned angler refine their kite-fishing skills, his goal is to ensure every guest leaves with a greater appreciation for the sport and the environment. What makes the waters off West Palm Beach truly legendary, in Tyler’s eyes, is the incredible proximity of the Gulf Stream to the Palm Beach Inlet. Unlike many other coastal areas, the depth here drops off with remarkable speed, creating a unique fishery where blue-water pelagics are found just a few miles from the dock. Tyler loves guiding in this area because the geography allows for an incredibly versatile day; you can transition from live baiting for Sailfish to trolling for Wahoo or exploring the productive reefs without wasting hours on travel. This "experience-first" mindset ensures that the focus remains on the action and the quality of the time spent on the water.
The Vessel: A Tournament-Ready 52’ Viking
The platform for these outings is a meticulously maintained 52’ Viking, a vessel that represents the gold standard in offshore comfort and performance. While the top-notch tackle and premium bait are standard for a professional operation, the amenities on this boat provide a level of relaxation rarely found on the water. The interior features a spacious, air-conditioned salon, a full galley, and clean, private bathrooms—essential for families or those who need a break from the Florida sun. Guests can take in the views from the bridge seating or relax on the cockpit bench seats between bites. This combination of a tournament-grade boat and a seasoned, professional crew makes Island Time Sport Fishing the premier choice for anyone seeking a comfortable and productive day at sea.
